Hey readers!
I am so excited to share the next installment of my new podcast series This Month in Books. In these episodes, I’m joined by my friend Liz Hein to, quite simply, chat about books. We check in about what’s new and noteworthy in the literary world and then each share a handful of books that deserve more than an Instagram caption review.
In this episode, Liz and I both have some serious highs and lows. We were disappointed by authors we’ve loved in the past, discovered writers who we want to read more from, and make some forays into under-the-radar reads. We also have several examples of books that needed a little more research to truly captivate us and we discuss whether we should be digging into authors’ backlists instead of reaching for their shiny new releases. We also discuss best of the year lists and why going into this year’s lists feels a little strange.
If you want to learn more about this series and listen to the inaugural episode for free, check out the September episode. We are having so much fun with these episodes and hope our casual bookish conversations are bringing you a little joy and a lot of great books.
This month I’ve also included the Substack generated transcript for those who don’t enjoy the audio format. I’m new to this feature, so please feel free to reach out and let me know how effective it is!
