I finally got Remains of the Day this week to read soon. You wore me down! I need to be in on the secrets. Also, I love a mini-road trip where I can stuff my car with in-case-of-emergency books!
I just read The Remains of the Day for the first time a few weeks ago and can already see how it's evolving in my brain as it comes to mind again and again.
Totally agree about The Remains of the Day being a perfect book! I've read it once and I'm too nervous to read it again in case I don't love it quite as much
I absolute devoured The Third Gilmore Girl, and also listened to the audio. I love listening to the audio of memoirs, but always worry I’m missing out on any photos in the physical book!
Wow thank you so much for sharing this link Katie! What an excellent substack.
I too listened to the entire memoir in two days- so excellent. I loved it. I cried a few times- the moment Bishop’s mom sees A Chorus Line, the story of her visit to Ed Hermann in the hospital, and the end of her time with Lee.
I adore Ishiguro - ROTD is fantastic, but my favorite is Never Let Me Go. Hurts me more with each re-read.
It’s up next for me!
The Remains of the Day is almost certainly the perfect book. Just thinking about it makes me tingly.

I am so happy you got to see the aspens! My mom has been sending photos and I too exclaim in awe every time I see them ♡
