How fun you get to be there! I see James won, as expected. Definitely deserving! I loved Martyr! too. I struggled with All Fours for lots of reasons. Need to read the others!

Martyr blew me away, there's this particular part where he describes something as "like blowing flour over a ghost" that was so beautiful I started crying. Thank you for this breakdown :)

I am expecting it to be James as well but I would be so delighted for Martyr! to winβ€”it’s definitely my personal book of the year and my enthusiasm hasn’t diminished since January, which is so unusual for me.

I want James to win because I have to hear what the author of Erasure will say when he wins the prize! But also I loved the book. I am not really a re-reader, but I want to read it again. Also will not be sad to see Martyr! win. LOVED All Fours but like you, will be shocked if that’s the pick.

Impressed you read them all! I loved Martyr! And would be excited for it to win, but I have a slight bias as Kaveh is faculty at the MFA program I’m finishing.
