Love this and the descriptions!! A bunch of those you listed are independent presses, rather than imprints of corporate publishers. Like Graywolf, Biblioasis, Norton, Tin House, Grove Atlantic, Europa, and Catapult. I tend to prefer independent publishers and small presses (and have a whole YouTube channel dedicated to them!) - I just love the variety, quality, and innovation you get from independent publishers.
so.....All of them? I really found winners on each publisher you listed.
-I'd definitely add Tor publishing to that (Tordotcom, Tor nightfire for horror)- some good scifi and fantasy (the Nghi Vo novellas that I LOVED, the upcoming Alix Harrow, VE Schwab, Catriona Ward, etc)
-Drawn & Quarterly for some really wonderful graphic novels!
-Berkley is good for fun romance
-Flatiron for good thrillers (The most recent SA Cosby)
I'd add Gallery! They have a great list of nonfiction (they published the bestselling Anna Wintour biography) and fiction books (a growing list of commercial with a literary bend). Also, St. Martin's publishes tons of fantastic women writers; any book published by Sarah Cantin I tend to love. Also, ATRIA is on a roll with their list like Jennifer Weiner, Alice Hoffman and Lisa Jewell.
That's a great list, Sara - now I'm wondering what's the best way (or ways) to stay "in the know" about what's coming from your favorite publishers/imprints?
Virago always gets attention from me - prioritising women's writing since the 70s! And Persephone for the same reason. Plus Berkley and One More Chapter for romance!
Love this list! I have a sort of implicit trust for Tor, Riverhead, and Algonquin. And Bloomsbury will always have my heart for blessing us with Samantha Shannon.

Graywolf also publishes good nonfiction, especially their prize winners (my favorite is The Collected Schnizophrenias by Esme Weijun Wang)
This is a great post! I found a couple new to me imprints

Love this! Thank you for sharing, it’s such a fun, fantastic framework for thinking about imprints!

Okay, I LOVE this! And your descriptions are spot on!
