Re unfollowing fashion influencers, I have been doing the same but with popular lit fic bookstagrammers, and it has been glorious. Even though I share literary taste with a lot of these folks, the consumption side of it all was really starting to grate on me.

Yes! When I wrote this I thought about how it could definitely apply to book influencers too—including me! But I’m all for people getting offline more and consuming less, even if that means unsubscribing from my stuff. I need to mute some of those accounts too. I can look when I need a rec without feeling like I need to acquire all of the books RIGHT NOW!

I have also been unfollowing influencers and cutting my Instagram use down--my mindless scrolling of social media has gotten out of control. I'm so happy to be finding more in-depth accounts (like yours!) to follow here on Substack.

Same! I love the pace and depth of the Substack newsletters I subscribe to.

I love this so much Sara! I’ve been doing the same thing regarding my social media usage/habits! And have started colouring while watching tv rather than scrolling… trying hard to make myself and my family less reliant on phones! Definitely need that more than ever.

Yes! It is so hard, but it somehow helps to know so many people are feeling the same way and trying to make similar changes.

I’m looking forward to hearing what you think about Glorious Exploits. I just finished it and made my husband read it so I could talk about it. I was blown away and especially loved the audio.

I like the notes app idea! Two weeks ago I allowed myself to deviate from what I knew I really wanted to read and as a result spent two weeks with a books I wasn’t enjoying. I hope to avoid more of that this year!
