I'm reading Brief History of Seven Killings with a book club in a few weeks, loved your note on POV/tense shifts -- it drives me insane most of the time, but I barely notice it when it's well done!
I listened to A Brief History of Seven Killings on audio a few years ago. I still think about certain passages when driving through intersections around town. The audio narration was a fantastic layer to the feeling of the book, I know I couldn’t have imagined the accents and speech patterns as well.
Love the Booker Podcast link ... and sorry they haven't added any new episodes this year. I'd love to know some behind-the-scenes on this year's Int'l list.
I’ve tried to pick up Seven Killings quite a few times at B&N and always felt it wasnt a book for me, I really don’t know why. Sounds like it’s worth the initial inertia of getting started though
It is a very masculine book, I think, so it feels very different from most of what I read. But it is so impressive and quite the story once you get into it!
I am so interested to read this one, loved your perspective on it. The new website looks great, I was interested to see the difference between Patreon and Substack. I think my introverted self prefers Substack, but I do always love to see what you all are reading in bookclub!
Sara, the updated website looks really good. It is very professional and definitely provides a good introduction to yourself and what you offer. I agree that the page breaking down Substack vs. Patreon is excellent. Well done. All the best, Matthew
My kids (who are now 21 and 18) just mentioned Sparkle Stories to me the other day! They still vividly remember specific episodes of Martin and Sylvia's adventures. Glad to hear they're still around!

This book is so well done. I rarely feel like characters are real but his completely come to life.

YES! I listened to some of it as well and it made a world of difference.

I know! Where are they?!

Thank you! And, yes, our book club is amazing, but I know it's not right for everyone!

This brought back memories for me, too (mom of teens).
Website looks GREAT!
