I am INCREDIBLY excited about this new reading guide. There are so. many. ways. to get access to new releases coming out...what I need is for someone to tell me which of the books I already own (or not) will match the mood I'm in, so that it doesn't take me longer to find a book than it does to actually read it! CANNOT wait for this one.

Yay! I hope you love it!

Very excited about this almanac project! And love the Scholastic comparison. I deeply feel adult readers who used to be kid readers are forever chasing the high of a Scholastic book fair/order guide 😁

Sara, I love your idea for the new reading guide. I read SEVEN books from your fall compendium. Overwhelmed by new books is an understatement. Keep up with what you're doing. You're my go to. And, I - like you - got an MA in Lit and teach Humanities. So I feel an affinity.

Thanks, Jill! And seven is so many! I'm excited to read fewer new releases next year but also to focus in on the good stuff!

I'm glad I'm not alone! I felt VERY alone after sharing my thoughts on Instagram 😂

okay now I HAVE to read stoner!!!

Isn't it amazing how critical reviews can make us want to read something more than glowing reviews?! I often feel that way. And I would love to hear your thoughts on STONER!

This is a INCREDIBLE IDEA! You are so smart and so good at this, my friend.

Also, it’s not lost on me that you have dropped your Amazon affiliate links 🫶🏼

Small Rain! I’ll be excited to discuss if you do pick it up. Also I am passionately in love with my Glerups—I have both indoor and outdoor (rubber soles) versions and they are going strong after 4+ years of constant use.

I, too, have found my reading dictated by new releases—so much so that I neglect ALL THE BOOKS from previous guides and my own picks and purchases. I keep telling myself to read the books I already have and stop placing new release books on hold at the library!

Haha exactly! I keep putting out these guides and who can keep up?! I can't even! So I'm excited to circle back to some of these books but still have a really fun visual product to offer!

I look forward to reading anything you write!

Also love, love, love Glerups. To the point that I wish they would show signs of wear so I could buy a new color...my sensible part says "isn't it great how long these last"

An "almanac" that offers all those connections and enhances my goal of quality over quantity...makes me so excited.

I felt the same way about Stoner! You’re not alone lol Even though I read it a couple years ago, I will say it has stuck with me even though I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would 🤷🏻‍♀️

So excited for the reading Almanac!

Yes I can see how it will linger for sure! I just didn't love it the way I wanted to!

I am so excited for the almanac Sara! As Jill said above, overwhelmed is an understatement. I am so glad that you found a way to keep reading and recommending in a way that works for your reading life and will be sure to add so much joy to ours! Counting down the days till mid January!!!

I wrote a lengthier review of Stoner, and 100% agree that "What I can say is that I didn’t like the way Williams seemed to force the reader to constantly sympathize with Stoner and to paint him as a noble hero." The "real hero" bit seems even more frightening in light of politics today.
