🍂📚 The 2023 Fall Fiction Compendium
32 brand new books for an adventurous autumnal reading season
I enjoy summer reading as much as the next bibliophile, but, readers, fall is my season! Fall tends to be the time in the publishing calendar when a lot of the literary fiction titles are released—yes, that means new books from big name authors, but it’s also a great time to discover under-the-radar gems.
Last year, I put together my first ever fall reading guide. I called it Five for Fall and focused on created a hyper-curated list of my favorite fiction releasing in the autumn months. I learned a lot from creating that guide, both practical wisdom and a greater sense of purpose. This year, I applied what I learned and honed my vision to create the 2023 Fall Fiction Compendium. I focused less on formulating an opinion on all of the big name books coming out this year and more on finding the books I want to champion this autumn. That means there are still a lot of big splashy books throughout the guide, but there is a greater focus on debuts, small press books, and works in translation—all things I personally want more of in my own reading life!
The full Compendium is 32 titles organized into thematic “Edits” along with brief descriptions. The books and edits are organized into a lovely, streamlined PDF and available as an exclusive perk for paid newsletter subscribers and Patreon members. However, I’m thrilled to share with everyone my Five for Fall selections and Buzzy Books Edit. Five for Fall includes the five books I’m most eager to recommend this fall. The Buzzy Books Edit is made up of three books readers are buzzing about. I loved each of these three titles and knew they’d make for excellent conversations, so I’ll also be hosting monthly Zoom discussions of each book for my Patreon community. We’d love to have you join us!
