Readers, I just got back from a quick trip to New York City so let’s talk New York novels!
New York City is the backdrop of so many works of literature. I think the reason for that is primarily practical: lots of writers live in NYC and nearly the entirety of the U.S. publishing industry is there. Not only do writers tend to write what they, but publishers tend to publish what they know. In my humble opinion, this isn’t a good thing for the book world (a topic for another day!), but it does result in some truly great novels of New York—and it’s true that NYC makes for glamorous, gritty, eclectic, fast-paced setting that many readers can’t get enough of.
If you’re ready to walk the streets of the city through the pages of a book, today I’m sharing my favorite New York novels along with a virtual NYC bookstore tour featuring my favorite literary destinations that also offer exceptional services to long-distance customers.
