I admit I’m tired of midyear posts and best of the year so far lists. But in my annual mid year episode with Liz Hein, I mentioned that I’m not sure how many new releases would be in my top ten of the year if I combined new and backlist books. In that episode, I said I would figure it out and share a list, and today I’m finally making good on my word. In this newsletter, you’ll find the ten best books I’ve read this year with a sentence about why I loved them and the reading mood each book fits best. I also messaged Liz about this; she agreed to share her top 10 and it surprised me! Her list contains a couple of books yet to be released and more backlist than I anticipated knowing how many new books she reads! Liz’s books are presented without comment because I didn’t want to make her do extra work, but make sure you check out her Instagram to find her reviews.
As a companion to this post, I highly recommend checking out Liz and my episode. It’s fun to see what got “bumped” when we brought in backlist. Plus it’s the place where we get to go on tangents and really explain why we loved the books we loved.
Without further ado, here are is the reprise of our best books of the year, so far…
